First Partnership Agreement for Europe - 2000
March 23rd. FPT Technology Investment Development Company signed a cooperation agreement with Harvey Nash Corporation (United Kingdom) in the field of software production and outsourcing. According to the cooperation agreement, in 2000, Harvey Nash will ensure to provide FPT with software outsourcing contracts with a total value of USD 500,000. Immediately after the agreement comes into effect, Harvey Nash will send software project management experts to FPT to start implementing the first contracts with the programmer.
Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Werner Goeminne, Managing Director, Europe, said: "This is only the first project that also kicks off the software production engine, Harvey Nash hopes that after the wheel spins. The machine has been operating stably, many projects with much larger value will be signed between the two companies, most likely starting in 2001". He also said that since November 1999, Harvey Nash has come to Vietnam to survey. They have met many other companies in Vietnam but chose FPT because it is a company with great vision, perfect facilities, and a good team of programmers. They also went to India to survey and found that the conditions in Vietnam were similar to those in India but the price was much cheaper.
Mr. Tran Van Hung, Director of FPT International Trade Development Center said: "The signed project is not only important because of its economic value. Through this project, Harvey Nash will transfer experience (technology, management methods for large projects...) for FPT, FPT programmers will be able to gain a lot of new knowledge from Harvey Nash's software project managers In 2000, FPT will have to use between 50 and 100 FTE's for this first project".
Harvey Nash is a European leading software company founded in 1988. They have representative offices in most of Europe. America with sales of 160 million UDS. Werner Goeminne also said that Harvey Nash's representative office will be opened in Hanoi as soon as possible.
